We have had some really great suggestions pouring in and I am trying to act on as many as possible, if possible.
For example:
Would it be possible to have a picture of the ROTM show up at the top of the forum? This might make the award even more prestigous
This is a great idea and if the software allows it we will do it. I think it will look great in addition to honoring the ROTM winner.
How about a projects forum for members to post threads about their ongoing or completed Cougar projects? These are usually the threads I go to first
Wow! Why didn’t I think of that? I know I can do that and I will get to work on it.
The one thing I thought about for the site would be some sort of a vin # registry
DOH! Okay, I am on it! I have written letters of invitation to Phil the CCOA master Registrar, as well as Jim the GT-E registrar, Royce The XR7-G registrar, Dave The Eliminator Registrar, Mitch the '71 429CJ registrar, and Scott the 428CJ registrar. I have offered to create a special registry section for these guys and to allow them the ability to moderate there own sections since this can be privileged information.
So keep those cards and letters coming! (well, PM’s and emails really… LOL!)
Great idea featuring the ROTM on the top of the page. The extra recognition is a nice touch. I don’t object to my suggestions being public. (Except the stupid ones!)
New Forums Section: The Cougar Club of America Forum.
Rob, AKA MrEos will be coming on board to keep us all up to date on the CCOA activities and to share some of the good things that are happening for the Club.
There will be two parts of the forum, the first part will be visible to everyone, and the second part will be a password protected private area for CCOA members only. We don’t have all of the details worked out at this time, but stay tuned and I will keep everyone updated.
We also plan to offer an opt-in status bar program for CCOA members. An example of the status bar is the jelly bean thing below my name in the left column.
If you have any suggestions for how we can make this a better place for the CCOA, please, let’s hear what you have to say.
Bill, I don’t know the software, but I am wondering about the page. I have to scroll down to get to the thread, and then up and down to access the slider for the thread. This is really a pain.
Also what can be done to make this NOT look like the other site.
By this I mean the beginning of each section (discussion, tech, paint, ect) is all the “How to” threads. This again requires more scrooling up and down to get to the threads. Can we put them in a “How To” header
Also how about the “save as a draft” is does not work, and when you have popups blocked, and you click to allow, it kicks you out the the main page and you loose your place in the thread. This happens when someone posts a link w/ in the post. Click on it, pop up blocker states “temp allow popups from this site” , click yes and your out to the home page. Starting all over again.
Thanks, Johnboy. I also don’t like the frames — frustrating when using the scroll wheel on mouse. Thanks for the work-around.
I like how URL’s on mc.net can be embedded in the text such that the url itself doesn’t show, but clicking on a word opens the link. Can that be done here?
If you are referring to links like “ebay” those are being automatically converted by an ad company to generate more revenue for the new corporate overlords. It can be done for your own links by using some simple HTML. You’d have to Google it for the code, I don’t remember it off the top of my head.
