Have a 1970 survivor (66k) that needs window track work front and rear windows. Our problem is finding a shop not afraid of the 50 year old glass which I have been told has never been out. Only one other small spot on a rocker so the car has little work to do, maybe part of the problem. Looking for a good shop anywhere in TampaBay Florida.
I also have a 65k mile 70 California survivor and would be interested in what all you decide to restore vs. leave original.
My windows had never been out either. I pulled them out myself this summer (slide them towards rear of car through the slots in door jamb top after rubber weatherstrip has been removed). I cleaned/greased tracks and motors, replaced bolt-on glass gaskets, installed new weatherstripping, and adjusted. I had to break some of the tension tabs off the quarter windows glides to get them to move smoothly. While windows were out, I cleaned out the door inside bottoms and applied more red primer. I was happy to find no rust at all! It’s a real PIA getting everything back in and adjusted, but can be done. Good luck whichever way you go!
The problem or fear we are running across is removing the windshield and rear window. The glass is perfect. Track repair necessary is common on vinyl roofs, no surprise.
