Looking for new OEM replacement (1969). West Coast Cougar has them - occasionally - not often. They offer a rebuild kit but prefer a new (er) working unit. Are there any other sources for Ford products that will interchange with Mustang, Torino, Cyclone?
Lots of aftermarket companies sell the repo distribution blocks and proportioning valves. If WCCC is out of them usually many other places will have stock. Try google for example, ebay, amazon, etc.I use KY Mustang, Virginia Mustang, Auto Krafters, Summit Racing, many other companies that sell aftermarket stuff. Rock Auto, NAPA - any of those places sell them too.
Actually, none of these places has the correct proportioning valve replacement. Not Ky Mustang, Virginia Mustang, Ebay or all the others. Most require too much customization. West Coast Cougar is the only place I’ve seen a close OEM stock replacement…is why I placed this post.
I checked Summit Racing they say it drop ships from Scott Drake with an estimated lead time. So you are unable to use the rebuild kits?
Scott Drake is closest to West Coast Cougar so far. Thank you, must have overlooked Summit. My mechanic so far not interested in rebuilding. WCC has a 30-minute video on the re-building process. WCC is the best. Will work with Scott Drake and make it work. Thanks again!
I rebuilt one from a 72. The process is truely simple. However i had initially bought the kit from npd and it failed when the orings swelled up in contact w the brake fluid. The kit from don rush worked.
The valve should be removed, cleaned externally then disabled. Remove 6-8 orings. Replace with new. Reassemble with new sprin etc. Its not hard
Just takes 30-60 min and saves a couple hundred
Rebuild the original one, better in the long run. I have read some bad reports on the cheap reproductions one.
