Bumper fitment problems

Finally getting to installing my rechromed front bumper from WCCC. Beautiful chrome, but having trouble to get it to fit right under the drivers side fender extension/fender. The bumper sticks out slightly past the fender on the drivers side, and is about flush on the drivers side. It appears as though the part where the rubber filler piece fits in is bent together some. The filler pieces both seemed to fit in ok. I measured the OD width using a screw clamp like a micrometer, and the width is narrower on the drivers side than the passengers side. I do have the bumper adjusted to the drivers side as much as possible with the play in the bumper brackets where they meet the bumper.
So now what? :wall: Seems like it has been one thing after another trying to get her back together. I know WCCC has a tool that you can borrow, but I thought that was to just get twists out?
Looking for some advice before I get in touch with WCCC
Thanks,
(Sorry for the sideways pics)

Don, I assume these are the types of shots your after?
Thanks,

Just rig up a rope with a 2x4 and give it some downward pressure as seen in my video. Easy fix… The PS looks spot on BTW.

So is the drivers side sticking out too far past the fender then, and if so how do I make it so it’s not?

loosen the brackets after you tweak the bumper straight and adjust in or out accordingly.

Sometimes the bumper bracket(s) need to be shimmed to get the correct looking fit between the bumper and the fender extensions. Stuff gets damaged over the years in fender benders, you never really know if it is the bumper, or the bumper bracket, or the frame. What you are showing in the photos can easily be fixed by adding a couple washers between the bumper and the bumper bracket on the top bolt only.

Agree that brackets easily get bumped and bent but why play with shims? You risk scratching paint and it takes a lot of time. 30 seconds with a tool like mine and the brackets are bent back into the correct postilion. At our open house folks line up and I can knock out a dozen cars in no time.

I think you guys are misunderstanding what fix I am questioning. I am not talking about the parallel alignment of the bumper curve to the fender curve. That is self explanatory in the videos as to how to fix, and Royce’s description testifies to that. What I am referring to is the bumper is like it is shifted too far over to the passengers side of the car with it hanging past the fender about 1/2in (plus) and only flush with the fender on the passengers side. There are slotted holes on a horizontal plain in all the brackets, and it is already shifted as far in those slotted holes to the drivers side as it will go. I thought about shimming the drivers side rear bolt to frame connection and the passengers side front bolt to frame connection to make it go over some?

I would try that.

If you site down the inner brackets it will show you if they are bent.

Mine lines up perfectly on the driver’s side but the passenger side sticks out.
