Recently inspired to pull out the SD card that had pictures of this car. I’ll never forget the purchase of this car. It was stuffed away in a damp, dank Michigan garage that belonged to “Grampa”. We had to move the broken down lawn mowers and boxes of what looked like garage sale items out of the way, just to get to the car. I was the first to peer inside the car for what must have been decades. Inside was the most pristine layer of white, fluffy and tufted mildew. It was truly the perfect environment for preserving an XR-7 interior.
It brought a tear to my eye…and a drip to my nose. That smell of musty leather, vinyl, and humidity laced carpet is, for me, the recipe for a truly intoxicating cocktail. I would have paid more for the buzz. Turns out, I paid less.
This car became an organ donor for many worthy cars in the community and is still gracing the roads today, albeit with “driver” grade replacement parts.
