What replacement carburetors have you used on your 351 Cleveland for street use? What was the standard carb? Mine needs to be rebuilt but I’m seeing the cost to be over $500. I may want to just replace it.
Factory 4V carb for 351C was Autolite 4300. All American Carburetors in Florida does a real nice job rebuilding them, but mine did cost around $500. There are better carbs out there for the money.
The PO of my car installed an Edelbrock 4 barrel that failed catastrophically after a backfire. I replaced it with a FiTech throttle body system in 2017.
The 393” Cleveland on deck for my car had a 750 mechanical secondary.
I have used 600cfm Holley carbs on 351C 2V and 4V headed engines and they ran fine. I’m sure Edelbrock cars in that size range will also do well.
Factory carb on a '72 351C-2V would be either a Motorcraft 2100 or 2150. To be honest, there is no better two barrel carb available. The only thing that wears out on them is the throttle shaft may get sloppy in the baseplate, causing an erratic idle. A $20 rebuild kit is usually all that’s needed to restore them to good working order. If you’d prefer to have it rebuilt, Gottafish Carbs has a good reputation.
