Are there any holes on the firewall designated for securing the carpet? I was reading about AMC carpet installation and they mentioned there are two three plugs for securing the carpet on the firewall. I do not recall anything about that in our cougars nor are there any holes that are not accounted for but I thought I would ask. I am installing ACC mass backed carpet in my 1969. Working on the bulges and wrinkles at the kick panel junction with the firewall. Will steam or a light heat gun help with this? I have not trimmed anything yet.
None that I have ever seen or used. I think that is mostly a AMC thing. Though it may have been a nice way to secure the front edge of the carpet.
Refer to the WCCC video on youtube on carpet installation. Good info and tips & tricks
There are screws that hold the carpet to the floor under the front of the front seats. I use 3M #1357 cement to glue the carpet to the door pillars.
