Classic Auto Air

Does anyone have any experience installing a Classic Auto Air kit into a 1969 car that has power ventilation no ac car? Thanks, Lew

I installed the Classic Kit in my 69 while I was doing the restoration, it is basically a Mustang kit , evrything under the hood fit easily (351 windsor), the hoses were the proper length and had the correct bends.
I had the seats out and the dash was not assembled when I put in the evaporator/fan, I had to pull the dash loose on the passenger side to get the evaporator/fan into place and connected.
The side vents that are supplied with the kit are a little cheesy and I had to fight them a little to get them to stay in place, because the kit is made for a Mustang and the Mustang has a spot in the dash that can be cut out to install the center vent and my car had the blank off plate where the vent would be if it was Factory Air I made a stainless plate with the to replace the blank off and install the center vent (attached picture).
Other than that it seems to be a fairly hig quality kit, is easy to set up and get working , the volume of air is not as much as a factory set up but the dishcharge air temperature is outstanding (36 -38 degrees in 95- 100 degree ambient temperature).

My 69 XR 7 did not originally have factory air conditioning. I obtained and installed an a/c lower dash and adapted the center ducting from the Classic Auto Air system to a factory center vent and to the outer vents in the lower corners of the dash. Not a difficult installation, it took two Saturdays to complete. The CAA system works very well.

If anyone is interested, I still have the vents that came with the CAA system and I am willing to part with them.

Hey Lew, I like your 1969 SLED, has it been Ride of the Month yet? I like the Shelby roll bar.

Didn’t Wiley have one of those on his 70?

There was a guy in the San Fernando Valley that had a comp yellow 69 eliminator clone vert with a $helby roll bar. Also quarter scoops and some other junk from a 69 GT350.
