Classic Cougar?

Wandered by this little jewel while on a stroll this afternoon. I don’t recall ever seeing one before. What is it?

Mercury Lynx wagon. Here is a photo of the sport model from 1983.

So the Cougar grill emblem does not belong there, that was added later possibly to replace a broken grill…

No they used the same emblem.

1983 Mercury Lynx is what my father taught me to drive in when I was 15. Stick w/ manual steering.

The Lynx was Mercury’s version of the Ford Escort. The 80’s has some different cars I guess it was a sign of the times.

I’ll bet 99% of those cars have gone off to their reward along with countless other faceless cars from the 70s and 80s. Extinction? Or could it be the missing Lynx?

LMAO, 93…missing “lynx”, indeed!!!

My older brother had a “rare”, 88 Escort EXP…was a fun car…until he totaled it. Pity, was looking forward to THAT hand-me-down! LOL

I had an EXP. Kind of fun for a little while. Probably still be fun if you could stuff a 302 in it. Dad had a diesel Lynx, can’t remember what year it was. It’s still sitting out back on the property along with the body he had brought up from Texas that he was going to transplant the engine into.

I had a two tone dark blue 1983 EXP. I really enjoyed the car. The only problem from my standpoint was the lack of power.

I had the Mercury version of the EXP, a 1981 LN-7.

I had an '82 Lynx LS wagon, two tone silver blue/midnight blue with a sunroof. It was a fun little gutless wonder that got good gas mileage, which is why I bought it. The LS was the high trim level version, and it had quite a jazzy Wedgewood Blue cut velour/thick carpet interior.

That sounds like the color combo that I had on my EXP. I’ll try to find a picture of it and post it. I remember the first EXP I saw was on display in Miami International Airport. It was silver and black and I liked the looks and I still do today. I thought they hit a nose dive when the did the bubble back glass. I’d sure like to have one now with today’s gas prices.
