Should the plastic coil spring caps go only on the top of the spring or is it one on top and one on bottom of the coil spring
For a 1968 Cougar

The top and bottom of the coil spring have different effective diameters. The coil spring perches at the bottom (control arm) end have their own small insulator inserts. Shock tower end only for the circular insulators.

The rubber appeared on the later spring perches in the Granada / Versailles era. The original ones for 1967 - 73 Cougars have no rubber on the spring perches.

I felt like top only was correct but wasn’t sure thank you

I was fooled by the modern ones I put on in the Great Front End Rebuilding of 2019. Must have saved Ford 7 cents or so per car.
