Well, I seem to have run into another road block in my restoration. I have a 1968 Mercury Cougar that has had a Ford Grenada disc swap up front. I went through all the brakes and made them all like new. Except… I got to the combination valve (that I assume came from the Grenada because it doesn’t match a 1968 cougar) out of the car and it was completely seized up. I couldn’t get it apart and it was corroded and junky. So, I bought a new one from National Parts Depot: PROPORTIONING VALVE - #2B091-20AA - National Parts Depot
Upon reinstallation, I Googled a plumbing diagram for the distribution block on a 1978 Grenada and found a few different examples. I plumbed all new lines and used the diagram that shows each line labeled and where to go. But the big hang up I’m having is that on https://www.mustangsteve.com/granadadiscs.html it shows an entirely different way of plumbing these brakes. For example: on mustangsteve.com,. it shows the very top of the combination valve being fed from the master cylinder, but on my car I ran that line to go to the front left caliper.
The brakes seem to work after I bled them all, but the front left caliper is sticking. So I don’t know if that is because the caliper is sticking due to being older and needs rebuilding or because I plumbed it wrong. PLEASE give me your input, advice and experience with this because I am totally lost.
The pictures I attached shows the combination valve I ordered and installed, a picture of the diagram I used to plumb my lines, and the other is a picture off MustangSteve.com showing how he plumbed his Granada swap, which is different that the others I’ve seen.
