Hi guys
Another question!
I used a degree wheel on my 72 351cleveland 2v that’s been converted into a 4 barrel. It still has the 2v heads.
The Lift spec’s is 219 and degree wheel show 223 a 4 degree different.
On the Duration spec’s are 106 and degree wheel shows 107.5 out by 1.5 degrees this is after I changed my timing gear on the crank to the advanced key way. Hoping this would change the reading for the better. It didn’t!
Finally the question!
With these degree readings should the cam be replaced or is it ok?
I watch a video that said 1 degree is ok but never said if it’s more then 1 degree.
Do the math on your cam card and you will most likely find that Comp ground in 4° advanced in the cam. I don’t know why, but they don’t lay it good on the cam card that they do this with most of their camshafts. if you can’t figure it out on the cam card give them a call with your cam number and they can tell you if it has 4° advance ground into the cam. I think the majority of customers don’t check with a degree wheel anymore so they don’t run into this very often. Kudos to you that you degreed your cam in.
Thanks for the kudos!
Yeah I talked to a local engine shop and he said pretty much what you said. He said it’s fine and to put the timing gear back to stock settings it runs best that way unless your racing your car. Thanks for the speedy reply😊
