Console wiring

quick question I bought the wiring diagrams for my 68 cougar but there wasn’t any specifics on the way the console goes. My car is a console car that I inherited and did not have the console in it when I got it. Can someone give me some clarity on what plugs into what color wise?

Your wiring diagrams should have a Color Code Key in the Schematic. the schematic will have a number on the circuit you get to use the number to color decoder table. This is the 1969 XR7 lights, clock & “Cigar” Lighter.

I understand that just seeing if theres one specifically for the console? Or if anyone can share specifics.

I grabbed a few pictures of my '68 XR7 as I happen to be running a console without the pad so far this season. Here’s the blue plug that feeds the pigtail lightbulb for the PRNDL illumination. Also the hook up for the rear seat lighting. The only thing remaining is the clock wires that will be another four wires. Two are bulb sockets, 1 90°boot for 12V power to clock and a female spade for ground. Hope this helps. Your harness should have the wires grouped/taped together to aid in mocking it up.

For a 68 there is a different console for standards and XR7’s. Console pads, wiring, radio/ clock pad are different. XR7’s have the rally clock so harness is different. Which do you have?
