Convertible top cylinders for 1970

My ACP replacement convertible top cylinder blew a shaft seal after 2 yrs. Can’t see any problems in top frame operation that would cause it to bind. So I am looking at my old ones (pictured) and wondering:

  1. Are these the originals? I don’t see any part numbers or date codes on them, and they appear to have nylon tops.
  2. Can they be rebuilt?
  3. Who is a recommendable rebuilder?

Update - I’m assuming these are the original cylinders so might be worth rebuilding. I’ve read you can replace the shaft seal o-ring. So I removed the star retainer and there was a fiber washer under it which fell apart. Don’t see how I could ever get a replacement washer over the shaft end or past the retainer? Seems the cylinder would have to be completely disassembled to rebuild? Anyone have any experience rebuilding these, or know of somebody that provides this service?

Not sure if anyone rebuilds them. There are crummy ones made in China, and good ones made in the USA. You get what you pay for. Mustang / Cougar for the same years share the same components for the top hydraulics.

Thanks Royce. I will stop chasing rabbits down that path.
