Cool (literally) vintage photo of '69 Cougar

Had one of my Cougar t-shirts on when I visited my dentist last week and the receptionist said that she had bought a Cougar brand new in 1969. I told her I would love any vintage photos she had and the VIN, if she could find it.

She is still looking for the VIN (she sold it in '80s) but here is a neat picture she sent me.

Obviously an XR-7, she said it was light grey.

If anyone else has any vintage pics, feel free to post them here :beerchug:

I tracked down the original owner of my former 1969 XR7 428 SCJ, he forwarded me some scans of old photo graphs.

It appears that my car originally had a silver? hood stripe? Car was color code B - Maroon.

Shot of interior with his son at the wheel.

^^^ Terrific pics Scott.

A couple of years ago a fellow walks up to me at a local cruise night and says “I think that’s my old car!” After talking to him I knew he was correct because of certain peculiarities of my 68 only a previous owner would know. I asked if he had any old photos and he emailed this to me from the early 90’s of him and his son at the time when they lived in Chicago. Sporting original paint, body side mouldings, and magnum 500 wheels.

Here is a picture of my brother Dennis and I with our grandparents. 1967 Jamician Yellow Standard. It was January 1972 or 1973. Dennis was on crutches with a broken knee.

Man I wish I still had that much hair.

Here’s a couple (literally) cool pictures from 1980

John T. Rehak (pictured in B&W) purchase his 1967 Mercury Cougar from Santa Ana Lincoln-Mercury when they arrived on the showroom floor in early 67. As luck would have it he was able to snag what you see in the pictures. A 1967 Riverside 500 Official Pace Car. It was equipped with a 289, 2bbl and 3 speed manual in the floor, AM radio and heater and that was the extent of the options. These original pictures (before the car was even registered) were taken by the company publicist on the lawn outside of Dad’s office in Irvine California where he worked as an Aerospace Engineer for Aeronutronic/Ford (originally Philco/Ford).

This picture is from 1975 when Son Don Rehak got the Cougar.

These are some great pics from a time not that long ago, or so it seems for me.
