Correct 1969 Bell Housing color?

As I am in the process of replacing the tranny, clutch, flywheel, etc on my 1969 XR7 vert S code 4 speed cougar, I thought I would get the color correct and fresh on the bell housing. Right now it is ford blue, but I was told by a mustang guy that the color should be cast iron and it is a medium grey color. It is available at Pep Boys I am told.

Can anyone here confirm or have other info on what the original color should be?

Original it was natural, which is cast iron. (no paint)
