Correct coil mount 390 BB

Hello all,

Does anyone have a good picture/description of how to correctly mount the coil on my 390 BB? It came with a Mallory Promaster mounted on the fender well. I want to get back to the correctly mounted canister coil set-up. I understand that it sits on the intake manifold, but am unsure about the correct bracket and mounting/bolt hole. Hard to find a good pic online…

Appreciate any help…

Dennis

Dennis,
Check out the current thread on the 390 air cleaners. There are a couple of good photos that show it’s position and mounting location. If you want to reproduce your own “yellow top” coil, there is a Rustoleum rattle can called Satin amber that is about the right color yellow. I just did mine on my 390. I bead blasted mine (plastic top and all) Paint the semi gloss black can. Let it dry a couple of days. Mask it carefully and paint the top the yellow. Mask the two posts prior to bead blasting, and grease them with a small brush prior to painting. Then buy the repro sticker. I also black phosphated my mount. I have been doing a lot of fasteners lately for the many places on my car. Super easy to do. Phosphate etch and prep from Home Depot, some rinse agent, and some oil. Fun to make things look nice!

Here are a couple photos showing where it goes.

Thank you both, David and Royce, for your time and advice. Much appreciated…
