correct red color for 7 Litre GTE side emblems

Hello all,

It’s been a while since I’ve posted. the restoration is progressing, sloooowly, but still moving forward. My question is this: I’m restoring my original Fender emblems and would like some input on what to use to replicate the correct red color on them. I’ll post some additional post-paint pics :slight_smile:


I’ve been ‘attempting’ to painstakingly restore everything I can.

You will surprise yourself how nice a job a red sharpie will do, won’t hold up but goes on smooth and looks good. Should look like this when done.

I say just buy the new inserts, they are nice.

Thanks Don. Funny, I’ve printed your picture of the emblems as a reference, but printed just doesn’t look the same as your photo does.

I bought the inserts from Don. I agree they are nice.

Mine looked just like yours. All I did was polish them with some metal polish and use a set of Don’s replacement inserts. They now look like they did when they came out of the factory!

I honestly can’t think of any reason to try to do those yourself. The inserts are high quality, metallic/tough and look awesome at a very reasonable price!

I have an NOS fender badge if anyone needs one. I can’t remember if it’s a DS or PS. I paid a LOT for it 20 years ago…please be seated if you’re going to ask me how much$
