Cougar emblem on door panels

The foil on the cougar emblems on the interior door panels is peeling off. Has anyone ever replaced them or refinished them? I can’t imagine attempting to paint them by hand. They look really shoddy and I want them gleaming. Suggestions and advice please.

I can tell you what worked well for me, find a Hobby shop and get a sheet of Bare-Metal chrome foil, it’s easy to apply.
Try it on the one that is already void of it’s original chrome then paint the black background,I think you will like it.

www.molotow.com sells pens that let you apply chrome in seconds. I use it on the horizontal decorative strips on 67 door panels.

Thanks for pointing these out.
I’m picking up one from Amazon.

These are good for fine black lines but they need a good shake to get a dark colour

The Molotow pens are also available in 1mm tip that has a finer flow and is easier to get to the edges. Be careful using them as they can flow very quickly. The chrome will also dull off if you try and clear coat them

The Tamiya fine masking tape is also good and can be bent to get close to the edge and protect against any excessive flow. It doesn’t leave a residue

Great tips Cougarites, have a chrome pen coming from Seattle, plenty of great frogger tape for masking and can use a spray can for the black and then do the chrome after👍

Forgot to add - the Molotow chrome paint takes 3 to 5 days to cure.

I actually used the foil type tape they use for tapping insulation joints on duct work to repair my standard door panel shiny strips. I also used it as an overlay on the piece that goes around my 8-track opening. I found it stuck better than the chrome foil. Maybe there are different brands/thickness of the chrome foil? You can even polish the foil tape with a mild rubbing compound and it shines up.
And the molotow pens work great. I tried breaking one open and using my air brush, but didn’t like results. I’m no expert with the air bush though

I opted to try a different method after all, I peeled, lightly scraped and gently sanded off all the black color and the chrome color. I used a 1mm fine artist paint brush and 2 types of paints. Both are oil based- Silver paint by Testor and Black/ Rustoleum Flat Black Plastic Paint. I also used Frogger Tape and masking paper. I would say it looks like an 8 out of 10. My car will never be entered in any car shows and unless you get a foot away it’s more than adequate. Once the door panels are redyed it will look even sharper.
