Cougar experiences...

In 1972 my older brother took me along to look at a local used car lot. I was 10 years old at the time & instantly fell in love with a deep red 1967 Cougar, it was set-up with an automatic and a 390 !! Five years later I got my first car a '67 with an auto and a 2bbl. 289. The car had been hit hard in the driver quarter. The 289 like most ran strong for a non-hi-po engine, despite my best efforts, including my first paint job, the body never looked quite right. Now fast forward to 2001 I received a small settlement for a work related injury. I had always longed for another Cougar, I found one locally, it was a '69 with a freshly rebuilt 351W and an FMX auto. Mechanically it was excellent, interior was in good shape and the body had rust that had been repaired 10 years earlier and repainted. I had a lot of plans for that car and still do. I’ve upgraded to a factory cast 4bbl. intake and Holley 600 c.f.m. A bout with Cancer put other upgrades on hold, but a long term remission has me planning again. I do enjoy my Cougar as it is my daily driver. I also have a '72 Mach 1, 351cj, 4 speed and a clean body red & black. I get twice as many complements on the Cougar & I’m thinking of selling the Mustang.

Welcome!

These cars are so much fun… with occasional bouts of frustration! Cougars so get more attention than their more common step sister. Don’t blame the Mustang, the Cougar is just that much better looking… LOL!

First and foremost good luck with your health Keith. The “C” word is scary and we all hate hearing it.

As for the cars, the Mustang sounds nice, but it’ll never be a COUGAR!

Welcome to the CCC!

Welcome to the Classic Cougar Community. As stated above the Cougar is much better than a Mustang. It looks better, drives smoother and turns many heads.

Did Steven mention that there will be much head turning involved?

Welcome aboard! Can’t wait to see more posts and updates in the future!

Keith I sent you a welcome letter with a lot of great information and resources.

Welcome. I get more compliments on my cat than my bud does with his 'stang. Put 'em side by side, and the Cougar just plain looks better, drives WAY better than the '68 'stang coupe my bud had in highschool. and although sometimes is a little frustrating from an electrical standpoint at times, is also rewarding when things get figured out with the help from the more experienced owners on this forum.
