Cougar History Video

I’ve been searching for a video that was on Youtube not too long ago that I can no longer find. It could be googled less than a year ago but the same search brings up nothing now. I think it was a Speed Channel video that started with “Don’t call this Cougar a Mustang or you’ll start a fight”. It was about 20 to 24 minutes in length. Dave Wyrwas was interviewed in this video and at one point was talking about Eliminators with a Boss 302 and he explained how “this isn’t just a little old 302 motor…it’s a Boss 302!”
It was a very interesting video that I liked to watch periodically for information and history sake.
Anyone have a link to that video or is it on a website somewhere? Thanks for your help in locating it. Diego

I was part of the making of that video (shot in Brazelton, Georgia in 2005, I think) and was given an original DVD version with spaces for commercials and everything. I sent a copy to Don at West Coast Classic Cougar and they took the ad spaces out and posted it on their YouTube channel. Maybe take a look for it there. The show was called American Muscle Car.

Yeah, I thought it was on WCCC’s Youtube channel Scott but I don’t see it there anymore (unless I’m blind)! I just searched American Muscle Mercury Cougar and nothing shows up???

Recently, we got a nasty note from YouTube saying the copyright holder had filed a claim on the video, and it was taken down. Strange as it was up there for over 5 years. Oh well. I probably still have the video file somewhere.

I noticed that all the videos were also missing from the American Muscle Car YouTube channel as well.
Maybe they are going to re-start the show with new episodes.

I’ve got a copy on good 'ole VHS.

Andrew, if you in fact do find a file for the video would you be able to post it in this thread or will that infringe on copyright laws too? Taking it down from the WCCC YouTube site is one thing but I can’t find it on YouTube or even Google for that matter!
There’s a lot of great information on that video. Interviews with Royce Petersen, Scott Ferguson, Dave W and others from the Classic Cougar Community is priceless!
I would love a copy of that video if you or someone else in the Community has it and could email it to me. PM me if need be!
Thanks in advance folks!

The file size for that is going to be very large. It would have to be hosted on a site to be downloaded.
I would like an edited (commercial spaces removed) version for my own files, too.

A lot of those vids were shot in Braselton, Ga. I wonder if it’s due to the proximity to Road Atlanta or something. I recall the Road Runner, AMX, Saleen Mustang all being shot in Braselton. I think part of it may have been Speed Vision’s ties to Atlanta at the time.

They were shot through participation of Year One (major sponsor), which is in Braselton, GA.

Now it all makes sense. My former supervisor at Bellsouth got his Road Runner showcased in that episode. Nice car. Too bad he had the typical B-Body attitude, which is exactly what helped make the decision to not re-up in the North Georgia Mopar club. Should’ve called it the North GA Road Runner club. Although I haven’t owned a Mopar in years (had a '69 Sport Satellite w/440 Indy Heads, solid roller, Vic Jr. single plane-I know I always preach against one on the street but I was much younger, and 1/2" oil pickup-needed to keep a 440 alive above 6,000 revs), I would actually take an a body with a 340 over a b body with a 383 any day.

I thought all the participants received a DVD of the show “At the Sign of the Cat”. It is labeled Episode 10011 AMC-0050. I still have my copy.

Year One also had many pictures of the event posted on their website. Of course, now I can’t find them. :frowning:

I have a reduced-size copy of the video I can share for personal enjoyment, PM me if you want it.

So, does anyone know the story about why the copywrite holder wanted it pulled? Its not like the content was fresh.

If I had to guess, I would say that the person or entity that legally owns the copyright is exorcizing their right.

Unless the material is so old that the copyright has run out, how long ago the content was created doesn’t really matter.
