Cougar Key Chain

Since I’m a new cougar owner I’m trying to get a few accessories to go with my car. I picked up this nice key chain from a seller on Etsy. Said it was from a 67-68 headlight. He is currently sold out but hopefully will add more. He does have similar key chains for other muscle cars. If anyone knows of any other kool items like hats, mugs, shirts, etc… please share.

That would make a cool weathervane maybe I will make one. I can’t decide on a car vane or this cougar? What year Year Cougar has the best side profile? Maybe the Cougar emblem would look better. If I make one I will be sure to post it here.

If you aren’t a member yet or aren’t aware, the Cougar Club of America has lots of merchandise for sale -

FWIW, the CCOA has Ford’s permission to use their trademarked and copyrighted logos and graphics. Profit is plowed back into the club and helps it fulfill it’s mission of promoting the Mercury Cougar and assist local clubs host national shows, etc.

Also, a lot of local clubs also have cool swag for sale.

And sometimes local clubs are able to get great graphic artists to help create logos that then turn into a keychain, or other cool stuff, for it’s members.

Thank you for the links. I wasn’t aware that local clubs had swag for sale. I’m a t-shirt guy and usually wear rock concert t-shirts that I have collected over the years. My wife is tired of my concert shirts so she will be happy that I’m wearing something different.

I really like that Fordnutz website and key chain. Will go through the website this weekend when I have more time. Thanks!

West Coast Classic Cougar would be another source. You will likely look them up at some time for replacement parts, but they also have some swag.

These used to sell for 99 cents at the checkout line of any auto part store in the 1970’s. Now people are claiming they are OEM Mercury LOL! And super rare and of course valuable…

^^^ Royce makes a great point - the way I see it there are several levels of collecting Mercury Cougar merchandise

There is the original stuff that Mercury offered when the cars were new, like key chains, money clips, drinking glasses, playing cards, tie tacks, belt buckles, toys, etc.

There is also the original stuff that Mercury had made as gifts for executives, employees, etc. That stuff is really cool to find.

Then there is the knockoffs like the keychain that Royce posted that were available when the cars were new into when a lot of us bought them as our first/used cars in the '70s and '80s.

Still some neat stuff but mostly fun - not nearly the quality of official stuff.

Then there are the knockoffs being offered today, like the keychain you got from Etsy - which is cool.

Then the closest we have to “official” stuff are the items available through clubs - as I said, at least the money you spend there goes back into promoting and enjoying the cars we all love. I’ve attached some pics of some of the stuff I have in my collection.

We still have some 1969 50th event gear left.
