So, I remember a thread a few years ago about a now collector watch, that was sold for around 700 dollars. I saw one recently that went for a lot less than that. My question is what would the box for one of those look like? I thought somebody on the forums here had one-
The latch mechanism looks a lot like a jewelery box hinge, so swapping it out with a similar style could work if finding an exact replacement is tricky. Some vintage watch boxes use the same kind of hinge, and you might be able to repurpose one from an older case. If the original hinge can’t be salvaged, a careful swap with a matching finish should keep it looking original.
LOTS of images for these watches ( ‘Olsonite’ or 'Motor Wrist" branded ) on the internet, and lots for sale on eBay. But none of the Mercury Cougar - although almost every other car manufacturer and brand is available, with a vast range of prices.
