Cougars at Barrett Jackson Scottsdale 2015

$68,500.00

I got to see it in person today with Dave (thanks Dave!). It sure does look nice! Not very correct, but it is still a sharp car. It seems like it has such great potential to be restored and made “right” ~ or just drive it as-is and enjoy it.

I’m with the fellahs who are shooting “low ball” bids though. I think if it were “only” a nice 4-speed CJ Eliminator for sale on the open market… $50k-ish? But being at BJ, part of Ron Pratte’s collection, possibly the second '70 Eliminator built… jeez, what sort of premium does that put on a car like that?

Heck, I’m gonna bid $75k.

*Dave was thinking that the car will be crossing the block around maybe 5:30pm. I’m hoping to get out of work and make it there in time to see it happen - that would be cool, to me

Is Pratte’s car the same one that sold in 2007 for $128,700? At the time I thought that was way too high considering how many parts are not “correct”. At the time the “correct” details didn’t seem to hurt it’s selling price. I doubt it will hurt it today either. See the link below.

anybody watching BJ on velocity channel?

Not on until 8 pm central time on my TV. I did watch some of the live feed from BJ’s site. Seems like strong bidding to me, especially given its only Tuesday. I guess the money don’t care what day it is. I think our fantasy bid car will be up in about 20 minutes or so.

Yes, Silverton - same car as 2007.

how the prices are going this early gonna have to raise it up to 160k

Watching it on Discovery channel. Stooopid money being thrown around! My guess = $175,000.00

Hammer down at $120,000.

Catlover wins the fantasy BJ… ummm… bid the closest at 118,500.

Catlover… check your PM’s.

Wow… the Cougar got onto the “wall of fame” on VelocityTV. That’s cool.

But it didn’t seem to make it onto TV!

Ah well… It was still friggin’ awesome!

cool - thanks for the vid Mike :beerchug:

I had a feeling that the driver-cars are going to go really well this year. Everybody’s juices have to be all pumped up for the future, considering gas prices :ylsuper: It may mean the trailer queens and rare cars might just keep being strong, but it also might mean that a lot of people just want to get a cool car that they are comfortable driving/cruising with…

Some of these prices for the Pratte cars are ridiculous. A '67 L71 Corvette, with a fake trim tag (that shows options) went for almost $190K and the fake tag was spelled out in the description. A faked '64 Galaxie 500XL R code (originally a 352) sold for almost $150K, yikes a real one doesn’t bring that, what is wrong with these people buying faked cars for real money?

Maybe Barrett-Jackson has made Ron Pratte enough of a celebrity to make his cars worth more? I don’t get the prices either now that I know his cars aren’t concours stock or original. It should make for an interesting Friday/Saturday night, though!

If faked cars are bringing that, what’s the Two Lane Blacktop '55 that’s there going to bring???

Yeah, I don’t get it with the Pratt car values.

The two lane blacktop Chevy is one to watch. :beerchug:

There seem to be some pretty good cars selling for ho-hum money, as always, in the early days…

Cool Bronco all original (can’t remember the year) at 24K including commission
'66 Mustang Coupe at 22k
'87 Grand National at 15k
'64 Galaxie, Beautiful restored 390 Red at 26,400 (Ouch, galaxies are still a huge bargain!)

Unless owned by Pratte, his faked R code from an X code went for almost $150K.
