A friend of mine gave me two 2015 calendars, both have a Cougar on them. The one has a red 73 std convertible, at least slightly modified with slotted mag wheels and two tone interior. No ownership information is given. The other has a white with white vinyl top XR-7 GTE. The ownership is listed as Carolina Classic Cars. Interesting that both cars are featured for the month of March. I’m sure that both calendars are stock types that any business can order with their information printed at the base.
In the January 2015 issue of MUSCLECAR REVIEW they have an article about the Muscle Car Classic XXVIII held in July 2014 at Byron Dragway in Byron ILL. Two Cougars are shown in a group shot, both are 67-8 cars but not enough is visible to say exactly which year. There is a partial front shot of a lime green Cougar, partial license plate GG 686, has 10,000 lakes at the bottom of the plate. Is that a MN plate? The other car is a dark green, Augusta green?, XR-7 GT, looks like saddle interior. Anyone here own either one of them? No information is given in the article about either car.
Randy I have some pictures of a white GT-E that had come up for auction in Raleigh, North Carolina. I think it possibly was pulled from the auction and the went to a Texas Auction. It was originally a Lime Frost car. The one I’m talking about had 427 emblems on the hood scoop and a rim blow steering wheel was added. No vinyl top though. This car had a history that was discussed on MC.net and here is the link to that discussion. I believe there was only one white GT-E produced and it would be cool to know if the Cougar you saw in the calendar is that car.
White GT-E from Raleigh Auction
Randy would you be able to post pictures from the 2015 calendar?
Steven,
I relooked at the calendar photo and I would say that it is the same car you posted photos of. In the calendar photo I can see the 427 emblem on the side of the hood scoop. I can clearly see that it has the vinyl top moulding but it could be a painted roof and not covered in vinyl. Something that I had not noticed before but did now, the calendar car appears to have front seat headrests and I can see the same in your photos. In my opinion it is the same car.
As to posting photos I never learned how to do that. And even if I did I would need to take a photo of the calendar and then post it, I do not have the equipment or knowledge to scan it into a computer. Tech is not my strong suit.

I seen them as well and woundered who the owners were. They talked about the Mustang conv between them, but nothing about the Cougars.
Randy after studying the photos I posted and enlarging them this GT-E does have a white vinyl top. I can see the molding along the rear deck and the seams on each side of the roof on the front view.
Thanks for that information Bill. Has any further progress been made on anyone in the Cougar Community getting to seeing the “Unicorn” since you wrote the story about it?
Steven
The February 2015 issue of Musclecar Review has a letter to the editor from BossElim69, Brian, correcting them on the names of paint colors between Ford and Mercury products. It also includes a small photo of his 69 B2 Eliminator.
I just found this thread today. The Muscle Car Classic show is actually in Minnesota. The author was contrasting it with the drags he had visited the week before in Byron IL. The Inverness green car is mine. I got it out of tri-cities Washington last spring, but it spent most of its life in Oregon (Albany and Hermiston areas). Its a 67 XR7 GT 4 speed car. I posted about it on MCnet (same username), but haven’t frequented CCC until recently. The other car is a 68 GT standard with an auto. I’ve met the owner through email, but we haven’t met up in person yet.
True, and I know this. However A) I did not think about at the time of posting and B) after relooking at the article you can only see the mirror on Hattrick’s 67. On the second car the hood is open obstructing the view of the windshield. Plus it is possible for someone to swap the mirror styles so it can only be used as a clue to which year a car is.
The March 2015 issue of Hemmings Muscle Machines has an article on Dave Wyrwas’ (70b302cat) 1970 M code 4 speed standard convertible. It’s the Buyer’s Guide car for the month. Congrats Dave. How many of your cars have been in HMM now?
That should be the last of the HMM articles. I previously had the 70 Cyclone, the pair of B2 Eliminators and now the convertible, (all of those were photographed on the same day). And the Boss 9 was done when I had it out to Musclepalooza.
