I thought cougars were considered “hot” both the automotive and gender camps? How is that offensive? Then again lately you can’t swing a dead cat ( no pun intended) without hitting someone who thinks something is offensive.

My guess is that the board of ed is mostly made up of middle aged women that resemble other types of animals such as Fat Old Hens or Great White Whales. They are all probably jealous of the sleak, nimble, & fast moving 2-legged Cougars so they take it out on the kids.

Truly sad. What needs to be done is vote the school board out. Here in SC school boards are elected positions. Everything has to be PC now. How many women or mothers in that community would be offended by the school having a cougar as a mascot. More than likely none. I say 
if anyone gets offended by the cougar mascot.

Whats in a mascot name anyway? In High School we were the Cavaliers. I never felt like a Cavalier and still don’t. A year ago my company did a construction clean up on a school that was leveled by hurricane Katrina and rebuilt in the same location. Their school name, “The Hurricanes”, Talk about tempting fate. In every classroom and hall intersection there was a large hurricane pattern in the tile or terrazzo.
If Mercury were still around and making Cougar, these would be the same people trying to force Mercury to change the name and turn it into a hybrid.

I think I should be offended that they are gonna use blue and WHITE as their school colors. I’m white and I don’t want to be mistakenly associated with a high school in Utah. Too many bad memories…

The only PITA I know of is Pain In The Ass. PETA is the vegitarian-crowd People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (but some like Ted Nugent counter that with calling it People Eating Tasty Animals)
