I’m on record as saying that I really like the prototype and one off styling cars but this is one ugly Cougar.
George Barris has built some cool cars but this one doesn’t fall into that category.

I think I just threw up in my mouth a little…
Well at least it’s not a 67-73 Cougar…
^^^ It’s been thought about -
Here’s a concept sketch by Harry Bradley from the April 1970 issue of Car Life.
Yeah…no.
While the early contributions of George and Sam Barris to the custom car world cannot be disputed, George should have stopped a LONG time ago. The saying “Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should…” is best illustrated by the car above (first post).
Wow. Something halfway tasteful from Harry Bradley.
As far as Barrises go, Sam was the artist, George is the (self) promoter.
A shoebox Cougar?
From the front it looks like it will float.
Looks like two different people designed it. One did the front and the other the rear, the two ends don’t work together.
Since the name of this thread is “Custom Cougar” and Harry Bradley has been mentioned - I’m sure everyone here knows that Bradley designed the original 1968 line of Hot Wheels which of course included the Custom Cougar. Here is his concept sketch.
I’m liking both of these. Maybe it’s because the concept wagon is on paper and not actually built.

Always wanted to build a 69 shooting brake like that.
Where did you get the scan of the custom cougar hotwheels rendering? Do you have the original etc? I am a long time redline hotwheel collector and am very interested in more info on it. Sorry for the hi-jack of the thread.
Regards,
Chris
I scanned it from a book I have -
“Hot Wheels - 35 Years of Speed, Power, Performance and Attitude” by Randy Leffingwell.
My kids got it for me one x-mas - has lots of great, original concept sketches and drawings pictured.
Perfect thank you Phillip Back to the discussion at hand.
