Dan Guerney Special Verification

Hi All, my 67 has what looks like the original Dan Gurney Special sticker in the window but the Marti report does not mention it. Was the DGS package a Dealer option and if so would that preclude it from being reflected on the Marti? Thanks in advance!

You say your Cougar is a '67 but that looks like the '68 DGS decal?

The DGS package could be added at the factory or the dealership I believe.

Maybe getting a dealer for sale window sticker from Marti would list it?

Thanks - It’s definitely possible that the window and/or sticker was a donor or added later in the life of the car or some sort of other situation. If anyone has a Marti with the DGS added would you please confirm? Thanks!

Update: thanks for the DGS link - it is reflected on that example Marti.

Thanks!

I had a '67 DGS that I bought from the original owner and this was in the paperwork.

Crazy that Merc O Matic was $206. Love that terminology!!!

The Dan Gurney Special package was available in 1967 and 1968. Either the dealer or the factory could install it. The package in 1967 was more substantial consisting of an engine dress up kit and a set of full wheel covers. The sticker in your window is a 1968 which causes the entire option to be questionable. Do the other parts of the option appear on your car?

If you message me with your VIN, I’ll will check if it is in the DGS registry.

One of the last '67’s built looking at the sequence. Could the 1968 sticker have been used? Especially it it then got the dealership installed version.
