daniel carpenter 4sp shifter boot????

So what’s the word on the Daniel Carpenter 4 speed shifter boot?

The reproduction shifter boots tend to tear at the corners of the shifter slot. There is a reinforcement plate avaialable, or you can make your own with some thick plastic cut to fit up inside the top section of the boot. The idea being to disperse the force of the shifter to the outside edges of the boot.

There was a post some time ago that Daniel Carpenter was in the process of reproducing a new and improved 70 4sp shifter boot. Don R. I believe posted the news.

I saw that and have been hoping for an update. An option to the current repo would be nice.

No news yet but the adapter works well to keep the stress off the opening.

Just my 2 cents. Replaced my shifter boot in 2004 when I rebuilt the car. Boot didn’t last a year before it cracked again at the corners of the slot. The fact that the shifter needs to be in reverse to remove the key kept a lot of pressure on the top of the boot and didn’t help matters. I purchased the new boot set-up with the plastic piece that reinforces the top of the boot a couple of years ago. This works great. Still no cracks in the boot.

Found this online. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1970-Mustang-Hurst-Shift-Boot-Cougar-Torino-Fairlane-Comet/323956056984?hash=item4b6d492398:g:I2wAAOSwUeVdryQ8:sc:USPSFirstClass!29910!US!-1. The picture shows “DC” on the bottom. So is the new and improved shifter boot out?

Yes…

Daniel and I got together at the nationals in MI in 2017 and we decided on several new products and several products to improve and this was one of them.

Here is the next one to be retooled and made from the correct durometer.

So what makes it new and improved? Been waiting for this to come out! You want to sell them, people need to know you have them! Just saying. I was ready to buy on feebay because who knew you got the new DC part?

We have a pretty large fan base that knows that before they hit the buy button on other sites, it is often a good idea to go to our site first to get the real story. To my knowledge we are the only parts store in the world that has the poo emoji sprinkled all over their site.

BTW, the picture shown is of the old boot. With Andrew gone we are a little bit slower on updating pictures, the next batch will be in by the end of the month and we will take pictures then. Much better rubber quality.

Honestly I did just that. I saw the feebay add, then went to WCCC to verify and then here to ask. Your ad does say “new and improved” but doesn’t say from Daniel Carpenter which is what I was looking for. I noticed the one has sold so I’ll get one from the next batch.

Thank you for your vote of confidence! When we take new pics it will show the DCM logo. Anxious to get feedback after several are installed and used for a season. The Scott Drake version would split after one year of normal driving.

Never noticed the Poo emoji before, but that is a great feature! I wish it could be applied to various vendors as well by Google/Firefox/IE…
