Dash Pad Dye Color..........

My dash pad is black.

What is appropriate , Gloss or Flat ??

Semi gloss. Here is the best product I have found in an aerosol can.

I must admit. I put a coat of flat on it and it didn’t look right.
There is a distortion on the very top of the pad. If you look at the pic you can see it. It was there before I dyed it and the dye wont cover it up. It has always been there.

As distortion, I mean it’s like something keeps bleeding through the paint

SEM also makes a texture spray that I used on my dash before spraying the color coat and it hid all imperfections so that they did not bleed through the color coat anymore. Mine turned out very nice. Be sure to experiment with the spray on some cardboard first to get the level of texture that you desire by varying spraying distance/ speed of movement. I used a very light or small texture bead look on mine and not a big and clumpy look.

If you don’t want to change the texture, you might try a flat black color coat prior to the SEM color coat for final color as it might hide variations in the dash color better. To me the Landau black covers like a pearl based paint and lets the surface show through a lot.
