Seems like a good shop! Agree the tick is likely an intermittent collapsed lifter. My original 70 had that problem too.
You will have much more confidence driving it once it’s all been gone through. Not to mention a fresh coat of Ford corporate blue when you show it. Hope they don’t find anything TOO major. It would be a good time to fix that starter mount problem while it’s apart.
Don’t forget to get pics of all of the casting and stamp numbers (including partial VIN block stamp) while the engine is out.

Haven’t seen it in person. Will by Wednesday. Austin says it looks better in person. If I remember correctly, it was a little lite on the color to begin with. Won’t put the center piece on till the lump goes back in. But will take PLENTY of pics when he gets back home!!! God I miss him
