The calypso coral makes sense
You’re welcome and congratulations on the find.
Would that make this car considered rare even though it’s low optioned? If so, my idea of a paint change will probably go back original
Rare does not equal valuable. It is going to be more easy to sell than the same car in diamond blue.
At the end of the day it is still a 289-2V car with few options.

I agree with Royce. It won’t necessarily put more money in your pocket, but it would make it easier to sell if it’s originally Calypso Coral and has some special order history.
I’m not worried about resale value, don’t want to change a car that deserves to stay correct
This is a 8” rear end correct?
This is a 8” rear end correct?
Without seeing it we cannot say. What we can say is that when the car left the factory it did have an 8" rear in it. So if it is still the original rear then it is an 8".

What’s the best way to tell them apart
Look at the nut holding the pumpkin to the housing that is located at about the 6:00 position. If you can put a socket on the nut it is an 8". If you cannot put a socket on that nut it is a 9".

Randy, can you explain that a bit? What size socket?

I think he means there is clearance to fit a socket on the 8", but on the 9" there isn’t enough clearance to get a socket in there.
at 7:20, how to differentiate the 8" and 9" and 9:20 discusses the socket. The beginning is just a butt load of adds & crap.

That is correct. The way a 9" pumpkin housing is designed there is no way you can put any kind of a socket on that one nut.
