I’m sure this topic has been discussed at great lengths perviously, this is my first post, I’m new to the cougar world. Last weekend I became a classic cougar fan by trading my first car, a 72’ Buick Skylark, which I had for 27 years, for a 67’ Cougar XR7. Luckily I stumbled onto some videos by Don Rush on what to look for when buying a 67’ Cougar, thanks Don! So I’m trying to determine what my new car is worth? The guy I got it from was little help, he only had it for less then a year. He claimed it to be a 30k mile survivor, I wasn’t so sure. I found some old receipts hidden in the door pocket showing the car had 100k on it in the 90’s and I’m pretty sure it’s had a repaint, the paint is just too shinny. The body is very strait and solid, the interior is very original down to the am radio that still works The engine runs great, only modification appears to be headers and dual exhaust.
What do the experts think?
Looking forward to getting to know you guys! I’ve been an avid muscle car can since I was a kid and now own an auto repair shop in Detroit.

Would need more information to give you a rough value. What drivetrain does it have? Is it a GT? A picture of the door data plate on the driver side door would help.
I will look for the driver door plate. What’s included in the GT package?
My VIN is 7F93A575735. It’s a 289 4 barrel automatic car.
The GT package includes the S code 390-4V engine. So you for sure do not have one of those. Looks like a good solid car. 289 - 4V with no AC probably around $15K - $17K with value added by the color combination.
Welcome and Nice car! Show us a deluxe Marti Report and 20 pictures and we will peg your cars value within 10%. Glad you found our videos helpful, here is one that gives you a lot of bang for the buck…
Nice car! I am no help as to the value, but welcome to the community!
Look for wear on high-use things like the brake pedal and dimmer switch. A 30K mile car should show very little wear. A 30K survivor would likely still have its original shocks and suspension parts so those can be good clues. Also, the lack of pinstripes supports your suspicion that it has been repainted.
This will give you an idea
Wow…copy and post for the link…
Welcome and nice car!!!
Is that a standard-issue license plate? If so it’s pretty cool!
Cool! Another Detroit area Cougar guy! Where is your shop and what type of work do you do (new, classic, suspension, body, other specialized focus)? I’m in Beverly Hills near Royal Oak/Birmingham/Southfield. No help on car value though plenty of others here can help.
Totally not enough info to hazard a price but keep in mind if you use the Hagerty link provided by Mike from NH that their #3 car is still an almost perfect vehicle that could still win a local car show.
Good luck as looks like a sweet cat in any case.
My shop is called The Mack Garage, it’s in Detroit. We work on late model, foreign and domestic mechanical. Let me know if you need a hand with anything on your Cougar.
Thanks! My garage is pretty well equipped but I recently had some exhaust and alignment work done. I handle most everything else myself. This winter is drivetrain transformation time-5 speed and new rear end.
