Difference in 69 Voltage Regulators with AC vs without AC or Yellow vs Silver print

Just wanted to know all the differences in the AC and without AC voltage regulators. I know the with AC voltage regulators are for higher amperage alternators. I just replaced my original alternator in my non AC car with a rebuilt Autolite 55 amp alternator. Since I upped the alternator amperage do I need to change the voltage regulator to a AC yellow print regulator? Do the two regulators (AC & NON AC) have different connections or harness or the same and you just plug and go with the AC yellow print model without modifications? Will the 55 amp alternator damage my current regulator? My current regulator is electromechanical but I think it is an old aftermarket with black top and possibly the label fell and could have been NAPA maybe. The current regulator outputs 14.5V to 14.7V to battery. Any information would be appreciated.

This may help you.
