Different finish on a new Dynacorn part....

 I finally am getting around to installing some new sheet metal in the engine compartment. Opened up the box containing my new radiator support and SUPRISE, its silver. I’ve never had a part with this finish on it so I figured i would refer to the knowledge base here on CCC for suggestions. I am wondering what anyone who has already dealt with this finish did with it.

Scuff it and paint with epoxy primer and underhood paint.

Strip it and compleetly re-paint it

Paint right over this coating

Any other options?

On another note, i want to thank Don and the crew at WCCC for checking the parts they have in stork prior to shipping them out. INitially when I ordered this part they checked and found that the manufacturer had mis-marked the box and put a 70 in a 69 box. Don and the guys figured it out and I waited for them to get the correct one in. You cant beat service like this!

Thanks again guys!

I’ve seen this finish on their parts before, I believe it’s a weld-through primer. Mainly to protect the metal from corrosion and make it easy to weld in. I think you can paint right over it, but I’m sure others here have experience with it and can say for sure.

Send an e-mail to Dynacorn with that picture and ask what finish is on the part. That way you’re not guessing what to do next.

BossElim69 do you happen to have an email address for them?
