Do you remember Woodstock?

If you don’t remember Woodstock, you were most probably there…

Sure I do.

Actually it was in Bethel NY. Woodstock just sounds better. I was into drums and percussion instruments at the time and thought Michael Shrieve was awesome playing for Santana.

Vaguely. I was in high school and working full time as a busboy at an upscale restaurant. All I really cared about then was having a car and the freedom it represented. I may only have known about it through the evening news with Walter Cronkite.

I was only 12 so a bit young. Some older guys (18 - ish) who lived two houses down from me drove there in a silver '59 Oldsmobile 4 door hardtop. Their car was towed while they were at the concert. They took the bus home instead of paying the towing bill.

Yes! I was between high school and college, taking a night college class to get a head start, working as an extra at a retail shoe store (remember those?), and enjoying my first Mercury. I specifically got extra hours because a full-timer, the late Fran Grotkier, had taken vacation time to go to Woodstock! We were around the horn from Bethel outside Utica NY, and it took Fran an extra day to get back.

I was 11 years old.
All I remember about it is, my friends sister was a hippie, she went to it.

You guys make me feel young. I was 6.

I just couldn’t find anyone I knew that was going and didn’t have a car. I did visit the spot in 75 and talking to a neighbor of the ‘farm’ he said the next several years Yasguar had quite a cash crop growing among the hay. Those must have been some happy cows.

I was 4 in 1969. Not I. Do I know about it historically? Yes.

An older cousin lived in Port Ewen NY (a few miles away) and had a gas station. He was called, along with others, by the Bethel police to come and tow abandoned cars off the roads and people’s yards. He had many cars at his place that no one ever claimed.
