I just bought an early built 67 Cougar with a special name plaque on the dash. Does anyone know who Aubrey Tudor is? Looking to gather any history on the car if possible. Thanks in advance.
Has anyone seen this type of name plaque before? Looks official?
I’ve seen them before. Usually with factory ordered units.
Any chance the car was ever in Michigan?
If this is the guy, it seems to be a good time to have bought a Cougar-Aubrey E Tudor in the 1940 Census | Ancestry®
Likely that Ford Lincoln Mercury made them available for customers at the dealer level.
I have an example of a Lincoln name plate.
Thank you
Doubtful. It was sold in CA and I believe spent most of its life there until coming to TX. Thanks for the research.
Thanks @CougarCJ most likely that what it is. The car still has its black CA plates and the original dealership plate surround too. Aubrey will live on.
Google is your friend. Link to Father, Aubrey was the son born in 1914. Father died in SoCal. Good chance that the family settled there too.

Nice detective work! So many midwesterners headed to SoCal in those years. Aubrey must have found a good job and bought himself a new Cougar! My Dad did the exact same thing.
Very interesting, thanks for the research. This is the second Cougar I have owned from McClures Lincoln Mercury in Anaheim. If Aubrey special ordered this car he did good by selecting the S code. Thanks all.
Thought I would pass on some information about this. I was actually looking for some other information and came across this information from Don Skinners book, Mercury Cougar, The Classic Years 1967 -1973
I’m surprised no one else here knew about this.
Anyway, here is the background.
