Door Adjustment 1969 Cougar coupe

The passenger door on my '69 Cougar seems to be catching on the Striker. I was told I can add shims to move the striker forward. Do I neen an impack wrench to loosen the striker screws?
I checked the door hinges and the door does Not move up or dm…so the hinges don’t appear to be the problem.

Also where can I get exterior door handles? I checked Mustangs Unlimited Cougar Catalogue but there are none for the '69 Cougars.

You can add or remove shims from behind the striker and it also moves around quite a bit once you loosen the screws. You may need an impact screwdriver to loosen them.

Exterior door handles for 69-70 Cougars are not shared with Mustangs. They are shared with Torinos and at one point were being reproduced by Dearborn Classics.

Oh, and by the way, when I pulled the strikers off mine, the impact screwdriver tool I had did not work on 3 of the screws and I had to use an adapter to use that bit with my impact wrench. That worked like a charm. Just make sure to put plenty of pressure on the bit to keep it engaged in the screw head while pulling the trigger or you will round off the screw head…and that wouldn’t be good…
