One of the side windows I used for my 68 convertible conversion had rust forming between the glass and the metal frame along the bottom edge of the glass. Despite treating it with a healthy dose of rust converter, sealing it up with paint and reciting powerful anti-rust incantations, the rust grew and is now actually forcing the metal apart from the glass, causing it to catch on the beltline weatherstrip when rolling it up that last 1/4 inch or so. This annoys me. Since I still have the stock side window assemblies and the metal on those is in perfect condition, I should be able to simply swap the convertible glass into the Cougar frames, so my question is, how is the glass held in place? Glue? Is is simply pinched into place by the stainless strip along the top?
Friction fit.
Jody, the glass is held in by a seal strip at the bottom of the glass, then the glass into the channel, NPD sells the Seal Strip (it comes in a roll)for the glass on page 201 in the Cougar catalog, part #214A10-1. If you look at the catalog online, click on the part number to the left of the price, then click on "Instruction Sheets/Video, there is a 2 part video. Good luck.
