For you who have done this, what is the best and safest way to ship interior door panels and what would be a reasonable cost for shipping them? I need to ship a full set.
I sent a pair of fronts via UPS a few years ago, back to back, in a “custom” box, and it ran me 60-ish for ground, if I remember correctly. You might have better luck using Greyhound bus with a full set.
Best way is to find a couple of long slabs of sheet cardboard (flatten a fridge box) cut the strips 2" wider than the panels, put the first panel down and roll it once, lay the second panel down and roll it 3 more times and tape the ends up well. The only way to do the rear panels is a double wall sturdy box and say a prayer. UPS ground or FEDEX ground is your cheapest way.
Ever since UPS changed their slogan to “Yeah, we can wreck that!” I’ve avoided them at all cost. (And what a cost it is!) How far are they being shipped? Any independent guys around?
I cant believe what they charge for shipping now.
Thanks for the information. Any guesstimates on what the cost of shipping might be? They’ll be traveling from Colorado to Oklahoma potentially. May be too much money to make it worth it.
Mine went from OK to AZ/NV area, ground, and was in the 60-70 range for just fronts. That was also about two years ago or so, so, your results may vary.
