Had Monday off, and took the cougar for a drive to the in-laws. Racked up 195 miles for a great problem free trip.
Got one “Nice pontiac”, and also a : “nice Jaguar”.
Got it growling real nice a few times when passing, and i think it might take a few days to wipe that smile off my face. Washed it before leaving, but… going to have to do it over… killed quite a few bugs…
yea it doesnt get much better than that! I even got the thumbs up from a crotchrocket that buzzed by me last weekend. My only problem now is I don’t want to put the car cover on it when its in the garage, heck does black ever stay clean five minutes after being washed anyway?
No … not even with the cover on. You need to put a mattress protector on before the car cover to avoid scratches and marks from dust seeping through the weave
Thanks Leon, I had never heard the mattress cover idea. The reality is I don’t put the car cover on it cause then I can’t see the cat in the garage, just a car cover Maybe in a couple of years when I get tired of looking at it all week waiting for the weekend, not
Right on!! Went out on a “cruise” last Sunday with the FordNutz club … what a blast. Had guys stopping on the road to watch us drive by. Feels REEEEEAL good!!
Harry! i’m still waiting for that picture of you, and your better half, 40 some odd years later, to graft to your unique story. Do tell her she doesn’t have to wear the same hat… the rest should be real fine
Yup… day 3, and that chit eating stupid grin is still kinda pasted on my face…
next plan is the 800 mile round trip to visit my family. Just have to install my pertronix II first. The thought of a breakdown 100 miles from nowhere (like last year) kinda turns me into a weenie…
Driving my cougar is really what it’s all about. I do let my better half drive it once in a while, and… i get a good idea of what my grin looks like.
aaahh man. i will never regret getting my cougar back.
Come on, Harry! your age… your experience… same better half…
need I say more? She can do it! I already mentioned she doesn’t have to wear the same hat…
If she hasn’t driven it, you did give her a few rides, yes? Then start to drive her around in an “old fart” kind of way… she’s bound to give you the old “move over” eventually and take over! For me (maybe you too) the thrill is driving that set of wheels around, remembering the first time around.
i could never understand those who own a perfectly good running car and then just let it sit in the garage… Good on you!! I cant wait to finish mine. The only thing that will stop me from driving mine will be road salt. There has got to be a better way to melt ice…
Alberta tried, a few years back, to use a mash of confiscated wines and liquor. worked well, and… probably cleans cars real nice too, but, i still think it’s quite a waste myself
ps. my cat is plated on may 1st, and de-plated on september 30th every year.
Had an older gent on a motorcycle giving me the thumbs up at a red light today. I looked at him and, while laughing, he said “Nice Mustang”.
I thought he knew the cougar and was just being sarcastic… since he was laughing. I just started to laugh too! He then gave me a funny look, and stopped laughing.
He said :“not a mustang?”
i just said “no, Ford Mustang, Mercury Cougar”.
He just said how he had just noticed the script on the side.
Actually Steven, that place is in a very small town (mine, former Evain) gas station, and a “quickie mart” type store. Half the store is setup as a Unibroue micro-brewery beer. Good stuff, that :y: The quart bottles have corks.
Finally all set up for my 1000 mile trip (yup, going to drive around a bit)
all the limbs started working again (not the car’s). Planning a reunion with school buddies i haven’t seen in over 40 years, when i did drive my first car.
i also found out why i turned back after 100 miles in the last time: un-vented gas cap. None here to buy or steal. I’m going to slit the rubber seal on the edge, and look for one in Ottawa.
