Be sure to tell them you want to approve the color match BEFORE they put it in to the aerosol cans. Other wise you will have several cans of expensive off color cans of paint.
will do, thanks
Not sure what the problem is - NPD carries all sorts of colors. What color do you need?
Medium green
Light Ivy Gold (Green) is all that I could find in SEM. What’s your interior code?
1970 5G Trim code
Are these the SEM dash paints you are talking about? I see multiple colors, but some say “metallic” which isn’t correct for interiors. I wonder if they are mislabeled?
The door panels in the 71 XR-7 I had looked like they had Metallic in them. But were Blue. My 70 XR- has Ginger interior, but does not look Metallic.
Some of the colors are indeed metallic originally they seem to be labeled appropriately.
Yeah, my 70 XR7 ginger interior sure doesn’t look metallic either.
The XR-7 door panels for 1968 in blue are quite metallic. Rear seat cove panels too.
5G may be a paint store match. I don’t see anything in NPD that is close.
Yeah, I was looking everywhere but I didn’t see green at all. I thought that the ivory gold was green, but wasn’t sure.
The paint shop will mix SEM
to get the match. One day turn around. Not bad. I will test before I pay/pick up. They also have
the same brand prep items in stock. I’m thinking 3 cans should be enough.
Thanks again for all of your help and input. Very much appreciated.
Dark Ivy Gold seems a strange name for dark green, but that’s what my 69 XR-7 interior is called, and it is dark green.
This is what I used on my pad.
INTERIOR PAINT, FLEXIBLE SPRAY, DARK IVY GOLD - #VP-15854 - National Parts Depot (npdlink.com)
I wonder if the green changed a lot from 69 to 70. Yeah ivory gold is not what I pictured being green. Thanks, I’ll give it a try. I have an old seat back that I can test match it to.
Call the NPD site you would be ordering from and ask them. I’ve found the people on the phone and behind the counter are not just “order takers”. They are usually car people too. The person who picks up the phone may be a Chevy guy, but in my experience, they will get you talking to a knowledgeable Ford guy. At least that’s been my experience with the Canton store.
It’s not ivory gold. The correct name is Ivy Gold. It was used from 1967 - 69 but I think 1970 is a lighter shade.
I don’t know where I came up with ivory🤷 I think I’ll get some “Ivy gold” and test it against
some of the interior pieces. Thanks to everyone for their guidance and advice.
