Dear all,
My name is Carl and I’m living in The Netherlands. I recently bought a 68 Cougar 302 2V and I do have a ‘tyre question’. Hope you could help me out.
The Marti Report states the car was delivered with E70x14 Wide Oval White Sidewall Tires. Early pictures of the car are showing BFGoodrich Silvertown E70-14 Wide Profile (pin stripe white walls) bias ply tires.
The idea is to equip the car with period correct tires again, to keep it as original as possible. It’s not a daily driver. As far as I know the BFGoodrich tires with the white pin stripe are not reproduced in a ‘bias ply’ version. There is a Radial version but this tyre does not look ‘100% correct’. Does anyone know if Mercury assembled other brands (for example Firestone or Goodyear) with a pin stripe in the E70-14 size on the Cougars at the Dearborn plant in 1968?
Thanks for your time and attention.
Regards,
Carl
