Easy radiator repair or just replace?

Is this easily repaired by a radiator shop?

The little silver apot is where it’s leaking. Real tiny.

It’s the top edge of the radiator where it bends over.

I would say yes. Easy repair.

If that is a brass / copper radiator it is an easy fix, just a little solder. If it is aluminum you might be able to fix it.

I’d say that’s a pretty easy fix. The only thing that would concern me is how many other holes like that are close to showing their ugly self. I’m sure a good radiator shop could pressure test and fix you up .
Steven

Are we talking solder as in a soldering iron? Or propane torch?

I’m just looking for a temp fix. Planning on replacing it along with all the hoses and t stay

Thanks

Big soldering iron or small torch

Before you even attempt it I would look the rest of the rad over very close. When you peer down the neck do you see any blockage in the fins? If it is a 20" wide rad it might be a good time to upgrade to a 24" rad.

I gotta tell this story, circa 1975, and I had a 65 Mustang. A small hole, just like you showed, appeared in my radiator. My father had just taken up welding and said he could fix this right up. He fires up his Oxy-acetylene torch, lowers his mask, and before you know it, I had a silver-dollar sized hole in my radiator. Well, he did up paying for a replacement radiator.

Sounds like my welding!

Looks to me like you answered your own question. Why not just replace it once and done now?

X’s 2 on what Mark said.

Well, now you’re just taking all the fun of doing things twice away from him, Mark! :gaah:…:partypooper:

(and a big old X2 for you, Steven!)

Spoken as yet ANOTHER expert in the field. :poke:

EGGGGGGSACTLY!
