I’ve installed an AVS2 1901 Carb on the 351W. Good news is it runs terrific, smoother and much improved throttle response. Bad news is the throttle cable geometry is way off and I can’t seem to make sense of how to correct it. I have the suggested 1483 installed, bought the 1491 plate but don’t see how that will help, also bought a universal throttle adapter but can’t see where to mount it. Pics attached. Anyone have a solution that doesn’t require spending $300 on Lokar cables?
Well it seems my pics didn’t attach and now the attachment button says not available in so not sure what to do for pics. Also forgot to mention car is an otherwise stock 1970 with FMX. Any help would be appreciated.
Ok hopefully the photos will help me get some much needed help.

New carb, cable now appears too long and nowhere to mount bracket without putting a big bend in the cable that renders it useless:

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
the bracket in your photos is for a 2 barrel carb. A 4 barrel bracket is shorter, shown here:

You will not be able to make any factory bracket work with a Edelbrock carb with out cutting and welding. I have seen a plate that goes between the carb and intake manifold with an adjustable cable bracket on it that works well with Carter/Edelbrock carbs.
I have a Ford bracket that works with the diamond-shaped adapter piece Edelbrock sells. Unfortunately I can’t remember what car the bracket came from. Several years ago I visited the local pick-yer-part and pulled a few throttle cable brackets from different Ford cars. One of them has worked well for my Edelbrock carb install,
Thanks for the replies guys, still trying to solve this but do I really need a bracket at all? Can I just shorten the throttle cable so that it is straight with no slack to the firewall?
No, because you need something to hold the cable housing in a fixed position so the cable can do its work.
Ok that makes sense, so I guess what I’m wondering is, if the cable is straight and tight at the off throttle position, is there any reason the firewall itself can’t act as that cable holder/brace point? It just seems like the simplest solution and when I mock it up it seems to work so I’m trying to understand why it’s not a good idea. Appreciate your feedback.
It can be if the housing is secured to the firewall and there is s straight shot from the firewall location to the throttle arm on the carburetor.
Yeah that’s how I set it up except I didn’t want to shorten the cable so I used an Edelbrock 8012 to lengthen the throttle arm instead, seems to be working well.
Appreciate your help.
