Electric window door panel question

I have located some door panels that might suit my car, but the panels are from an electric window car. My car has manual winders. Apparently the opening on the door panel from an electric window car is larger than the hold for a manual window. My car is a 1970 XR7 convertible.

Has anyone encountered this before? Can I easilt adapt the electric window door panel for my car?

Thanks in advance.

Sam

Not easily. The passenger electric window door panel and both quarter panels have a square cut-out for the window switch. The drivers door panel has a long rectangular cut-out for the master switches. Manual window cars have a small circle cut-out in all four panels. It’s possible you could make the passenger and quarter panels fit but no way on the driver’s door withouth doing upholstery work.

You could always upgrade to electrics…

I’d be interested in the door panels if you don’t use them. I’m converting my 69 to power windows. My 69 is decor and they have been cut up for speakers so they wouldn’t fit your car

Thanks for the comments everyone. I haven’t bought the panels yet, but will probably keep looking until I find a decent set with manual window spaces.

Is there much involved in an electric window upgrade? I have never really considered it.

Not too hard. I have the looms and bolt in glass ready to go into the 69 vert once I get the 68 back on the road. It is best to pull the door trims and seats out and also the dash, upper and lower to get the best access

I am going to use XC armrests in the front as the switchgear is better than original, and XC rear single switches. Requires some wiring jiggery pokery. if the armrests don’t fit well enough I’ll mount the switches into some 77/78 Cougar / TBird switch panels

If you want to simplify the wiring you can use a set-up like the XD’s with a single 4 switch panel in the console. That way yo only have to tun two wires into each door and to the rear switches
