Electric windows, any good?

I’m looking around for a 69 convertible and I’ve seen a few with electic windows.
I can’t deny they’d be useful (espeically the rear ones) but I’ve read they can be a bit problematic as they were new for 69’and that was 45 years ago!
Are they reliable and are they easy to fix when they go wrong?
Can the roof still drop if the rear windows are stuck up?
Thanks

I’ve heard the same (and Don from WCCC say it too), they are troublesome in 69/70 cats. Yes, you can put the top up/down with them up (but is always better to have them down when raising or lowering the top).

I had a 69 XR7 convertible that I added power windows. I loved them. The only problem I ever had was with the contacts in the switches. I believe the switches are reproduced now so that shouldn’t be a problem.

There is absolutely no problem lowering the top with the windows still up. As soon as the top starts to move, it lifts up off the windows and there is no further contact with the windows. So there is no possibility of damage.

The switches are the weak point. If you use switches from 80 - 86 mustangs they will be more reliable and replacement switches are readily available.

Also replace the nylon bushes in the motors before you install them.

Pony performance also have a one touch down module that you can install if you want that feature
