engine bay restoration 68 xr7

Engine bay resto almost completed! First and last pics are as I got my 68 xr7 about 6.5 yrs ago with 52 yr old surface rust and grime on engine and orig paint and orig v-top. Everything taken from engine bay to repaint the block then all components either restored or new. Second and third pics are as of today 7/11/20! Next will be seats and interior trim out of the interior to do work under the dash including new heater core install. Buddy taking 4.5 yrs to finish the resto of his 68 Dart GT delayed starting on my car (how dare he - lol!). After having made it safe and reliable to drive before he began his, I was able to cruise around and take to some local shows. Some big surface rust spots on horizontal surfaces that do not show in the pic = everyone says “clear it! It’s only original once!” Hell to the NO!

Nice nice nice! Looks great!

THX Steve! My bud did 95% or more - 2 tables full of parts to go back in! Not good at jigsaw puzzles, but he is!! Hard for me to be so patient, but I must! Like your car too, of course! I have the dark green interior too - if it had black I could be more free to maybe pick another paint color. It will not be Lime Frost again! I’m guessing 2 yrs to completion hopefully! Lifetime CA car with ton of orig records including window sticker!! It will end up a very nice “driver quality” frame on resto.

Wow what an improvement. Nice job

Best wishes and enjoy

Looks great!

Clear over rust makes no sense - it is neither original or restored.
