Engine gauge feed harness

Just thought I would ask the question to those more knowledgeable than myself on this one. Have ordered two different engine gauge feed harnesses, and have gotten the wrong one. Finally looked at WCCC, and found it for a 1968 xr7 (red connector with three leads). Am I overthinking this, or has anyone else had this with a '68 standard 289?

The one for a Mustang is labeled incorrectly for Cougar. You need to understand that a Mustang with a tachometer does not have an oil pressure gauge. So if you need a harness for a Cougar XR-7, you need to get the harness labeled for Mustang without tachometer.

This difference in the harness has absolutely nothing to do with tachometers, the difference is in the oil pressure sender wire.

FIY, Same thing for the Alternator harness. Mustang with out tach is correct for a XR-7, but due to the amp gauge.

OK. So it’s just a case of manufacturers once again treating our cars like they are Mercury Mustangs. Got it. Thanks for the info.
