Engine identification

Can anyone tell me anything about this engine. It was given to me to put into a 1954 F100. I was told that it came out of a 68 Mercury Cougar, but I doubt that it did. My little research suggests that only the 289 came with a 4 barrel, and that seems to indicate either a 67 or 68. I am unable to access the block numbers just yet, and

I was hoping someone could tell me something from the photos.

It is out of a 68 something.

I googled the part number on this decal and this is what I found
The C8AE-9C485-B number on this sticker is for a 68 302 2V or 4V. Nut may have been used on the 298 2V. There were no 289 4Vs for 68.
It should be a good engine in your 54.
